Rated 5 out of 5 by SteveHD Whisper quiet with plenty of grinding power
This is the third InSinkerator I've had in 23 years. The first two had the switch in the sink collar which is what failed each time after about 10 to 12 years. This one uses a wall switch and should last longer. I like the quiet baffle but always remove it to put food waste into the chamber so I don't accidentally grind it up when I turn on the switch. I bought a spare quiet baffle just in case. I expect this one to last for 20 years or so.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AZCustomer Evolution Essential is as described on web site
Selected this product because it has stainless steel cutting blades AND a stainless steel basin. Most of the other units have a galvanized basin. Our last one was galvanized but rusted through after about 5 years.
Delivery was earlier than promised. Installation instructions are excellent, but one should follow them, particularly in regard to removing the plastic plug in the unit if connecting a dishwasher.
All dimensions fit the existing plumbing, and the existing sink connector, so I didn't have to install the furnished sink connector.

Rated 5 out of 5 by David99 Much quieter than old model
I purchased a new Insinkerator at Lowes as my old unit of 17 years finally froze. The new unit was much easier to install and is d=significantly quieter. It works perfectly and without incident. My only negative observation is that the removable rubber membrane which stops splash back significantly slows the drainage of water. This gives the impression that it is not draining efficiently but the water flow is constricted to the mulching chamber. For Canadians these products are substantially cheaper in the US.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MA127 This product is better than last Insinkerator
The Essential is so quiet, you can't tell its on. Only problem I've had is that the rubber safety guard center is a little small to let water go down into the disposal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by mememememememe Seems to work, not enough time to tell for sure
You guys keep bothering me for a review of this item; I've only had it a few weeks, how in the world can I judge how good a long-term item like this until I've used it for an extended period of time. So, leave me alone already.

Rated 5 out of 5 by HomePlumber Double grind feature solved the problem
The original disposer, the low end model installed in a new home, worked fine except clogs developed in the pipes just below the unit. This was especially true for potato skins and some other vegetable matter. One day I looked a little more closely at the clog and at the ground up material. It looked rather large and intertwined, which probably caused the clogging. I began looking at higher end disposer models and found that there was such a thing as double and triple grinding. My original model was single grind. I reasoned that I would try a double grind model to see if there really was a difference. Since the new disposer was also made by Insinkerator and because the mounting was still relatively new, it was simply a matter of interchanging the models (had to put a new power cord on the new unit) and away it went...fit perfectly and I haven't had a clog since. The Evolution Essential is fully rubber mounted and more quiet than the original.
